'No need to create separate school committees' - NSS to Kerala govt

Perunnai, May 30, 2010
The Nair Service Society (an organization created for the upliftment and welfare of the Nair community) asked the Kerala government not to proceed further with creating the School Management Committees under the special circumstances in the State as mentioned in the Right to Children to Free and Compulsory Education Bill, 2009.

NSS leaders reasoned that formation committees such as the six already formed by the government under the provisions of the Act would let politicians to have control over educational institutions.

"The unique circumstances in Kerala demand the government to take selective measures to protect the rights of aided school managements in running and controlling educational institutions," said P.K. Narayana Panikker, NSS General Secretary.

NSS welcomed the provision for enrolling 25 percent of students for free education and the government bearing the expenses for their education.
